1830s Ball Gown
Truly Victorian's 1830s Dress. The ballgown version, in cotton. I have since made some sleeve supports which really improve the shape. Though I've worn this one a lot, it belongs in this "introduction" section because of the modern print. Had I known at the time that it was possible to buy reproduction style fabrics, it would have ended up looking considerably more historical. And although cotton is great for dancing, I hope to redo this one in a more formal fabric like silk.
In this photo my chemise shows. I couldn't figure a solution around it. I had not yet discovered that every era and style of dress actually calls for a unique set of underwear!
