Smock

December 2025 – February 2026

This smock is cut very much like the one I made in 2012, but with a lower neckline in front and back. The linen is repurposed from a camicia made in 2022 (see the “Italian Camicias” page). It was just too heavy and stiff for such a full garment and I knew it would never be worn. As a simple working class shift however, it’s fine. The seams are hand-felled on both sides of each seam allowance to 3/16″, as shown in the picture below. The smock is made to be worn with a 1370s sleeveless gown, but as a basic garment could work for many eras.
