1860s Evening Gown

January 2013 – November 2014

A mid to late 1860s evening gown. Or, a ball bodice and bonnet to wear with my gold skirt from the bolero ensemble.
This skirt was originally cut to fit over an elliptical hoop, but just for a change of silhouette, I’m wearing it over a round hoop. It seems to work just as well, adding a little extra length to the skirt’s train. The bodice is a repeat of my purple 1860s evening gown, but with a slightly lower neckline. The bonnet has minute changes as well. I had just enough of this pretty vintage lace in my stash to trim both pieces. The rest of the ensemble is made up of all the usual foundations: single layer dore corset, chemise, elliptical petticoat, and bum pad.
