A petticoat from Folkwear’s Edwardian Underthings. It’s made from a 4 yard length of fine cotton lawn, a fabric which has been in my stash for years. This was just the right project. The petticoat is meant to be worn under late-1910s fashions so it’s a bit shorter than any of my others. Hopefully the double ruffle will be enough to support fuller skirts of this era. A length of vintage lace, exactly enough for two rows, was added. Then I threaded the lace with an 1/8″ wide china silk ribbon. The petticoat is finished with french seams and the lace and cotton sateen ribbons are all hand sewn. I believe this is my most elaborate petticoat to date.
