1910s Petticoat

June – August 2008/ Remodeled January 2025

This petticoat is a remodel of my old Folkwear #226 Princess Slip. You can see the original slip below. It was my first successful 20th century costume piece and first time using a FW pattern. The pattern was excellent but I could have made it more fitted. Plus the center back closure was inconvenient. However, when worn under my brand new Folkwear #203 petticoat, it seemed to provide just the right amount of oomph. Using the new petti as a guide I chopped off the bodice and added a few tucks at the waist. The two petticoats are similar in so many ways. This one is also cotton lawn with french seams throughout. The ruffle is finished with a white cotton ribbon, and I added three tucks for a tiny bit of extra body. They even having matching buttons.
