1950s 3 Tiered Skirt

July 2022

This three tiered skirt was made with Simplicity 9537. The pattern is presumably a reissue of #3978, from 1952. I had many yards of fine cotton with a print that reads 1950s-60s. It was just a matter of finding the right project. When a friend made up the pattern I was inspired. The fabric is exceptionally well suited for heavy gathering.
A matching belt sash and my Malco Modes petticoat are worn for a bit of vintage style in these photos. The carved bangles and earrings are by Splendette. In addition to the skirt, I made a variety of head scarves. These are very pretty and worn frequently, for a change, in everyday life.
